We legally intercept surplus and unsold food from local supermarkets and cook it up into delicious meals, and serve them to anyone and everyone on a pay-as-you-feel basis. Food that isn’t used goes into our Food Boutique.
What’s a Food Boutique?
All the food we don’t use on the day is offered to customers on a Pay As You Feel basis. The cafe will have a display of groceries that we have rescued from Lidl, Waitrose, Morrisons and Tesco. Everyone can take what they need in return for donations of money, time or skills
Pay As You Feel
What does Pay As You Feel mean?
All the food is available on a pay-as-you-feel (PAYF) basis. PAYF is all about you, as our customer, offering a financial donation to the project. You pay as much as you feel your drink, snack, meal or bag of shopping is worth. Perhaps you can also afford to buy someone a coffee that might need one. So add a little extra!
Alternatively you can donate your time, energy and skills. You can show you value the work put into bringing food to our plates by:
- volunteering – we always need people!
- offering your skills in return for a bag of shopping.
The aim is to make a truly inclusive community space that will value the contribution of ALL regardless of circumstances – people before profits.
Our mission is simple – to feed people, not landfill!!
It’s about inclusion, community and sustainability, all strong messages from the early ideals of the Garden City Movement.
